Biography
I am a senior from Chicago, IL pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with certificates in Gender and Women’s Studies and Health Policy. Last year I completed the Nursing Honors Program where I was able to work with mentor, Dr. Linda D. Oakley, in addition to pre-nursing and PhD students, on a project to examine the intersection of nursing education and heart health promotion in predominately African American communities in Madison. After this opportunity to collaborate with members of the community, discuss findings, and present them at the Undergraduate Symposium my interest in community-based research was solidified. Since then, I have had the pleasure of working in Dr. Passmore’s lab where I have been able to hone in on skills related to multiple levels of the research process. Upon graduation I hope to work in reproductive health and in the future translate these skills into promoting reproductive health through community/public health nursing. In my free time I enjoy reading, watching true crime stories, and going to Bakke gym.
